Earth Day is coming up on April 22- so it’s the perfect time to celebrate Mother Earth!

Be 91���� salons on the St. Johns Watershed are partnering with 3 clean water organizations, and working together to raise funding and critical support for clean water. Collectively, 91���� salons have raised more than $200,000.

To kick off this Pre-Earth Day appreciation, here are 3 ways Be 91���� honors the Earth year-round:

1. Be 91���� prioritizes people.

We prioritize everyone in the Be 91���� family – from students, to teachers, to clients. Because before anything else, our people’s happiness is the most important. By prioritizing people, we help each other grow, evolve into our best selves, and become the most skillful artists through the Be 91���� Institute curriculum. We’re proud to help create some of the most talented beauty professionals in the industry!

Prioritizing people makes people happier, and happy people make the world a better place. That goes for our beauty school curriculum, but also for the work we do with and for the people in the world.

As part of our mission to support and prioritize people, 91���� has partnered with a non-profit charity to provide over 92,000 people around the world access to the clean water they need to survive. That number is only increasing too!

2. We are a community of artists who care about sustainability.

When the world gives us so much, it’s only fair that we do our part to give back to the world! Caring for the Earth is our collective responsibility, and we’re proud to cultivate a culture of conscientious, sustainability-focused, eco-friendly artists.

With every product package 91���� creates, we’re mindful of our environmental footprint, and we work to minimize our packaging and maximize our use of recyclable and post-consumer recycled materials.

Here’s how we commit to sustainable packaging throughout all of 91����’s products:

• We consider the life cycle analysis when developing packaging options.
• We reduce the size, weight and production processes of packaging wherever possible.
• We offer packaging that can be recycled whenever possible.
• We use the most environmentally sound materials and as much post-consumer recycled (PCR) content as commercially possible, without affecting the efficacy of the product.
• We use renewable energy to manufacture and fill our packaging in Blaine.
• We challenge our packaging partners to meet the same standards.

3. Be 91���� is a cruelty-free brand.

In 1989, 91���� was the first company to sign the Ceres Principles for corporate responsibility, which calls for the safeguarding of the Earth and its inhabitants. 91���� is founded on the principles of protecting and respecting the Earth. We have a number of initiatives that aim to leave a more positive impact on the world!

Our Blaine, Minnesota manufacturing plant is certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, and we worked with to create “drive with care” signs that would help protect wildlife on our campus.

Another way we show our love for the Earth is through our Recycle for Rainforest Project, sponsored by the Minnesota Zoo. We collect used cell phones from our employees who donate, then use funds from this program to support conservation efforts of the Goualougo Triangle Ape Project (GTAP) in the Republic of Congo (West Africa).

Over the past decade, our network has raised over $8 million for grassroots organizations that help protect endangered plants, animals, and their environments. 91���� never tests our products on animals, and as of January 1, 2021, we are a 100% vegan company!
